Port Elizabeth Embroiderers' Guild

Established in 1997

Port Elizabeth Embroiderers' Guild

The Port Elizabeth Embroiderers’ Guild was started in 1997 with Lorna Bateman as Chairlady. The objective of our guild is to promote the art of embroidery and to encourage all forms of hand embroidery.

Currently there are approximately 125 members.

Meetings are held every second Saturday of the month and are carefully planned by each current committee to be both informative, inspirational and endeavour to encourage all members to grow their love of embroidery. A very informative Newsletter is sent out by email every third month with a Newsflash going out with special updates in between.
The Guild is a non-profit organisation with membership open to members of the public wanting to further their knowledge and be supportive of embroidery.
Special workshops are organised when teachers are invited to share their knowledge and techniques.

Exhibitions of members’ work have been held very successfully over the years with over 400 visitors attending the first one at the EPSAC Gallery in Bird Street, Central in September 2001.
